FlyboundPrivacy Policy
The short version: Flybound has no accounts and no ads. We don't sell your data. The settings you enter stay on your device and, if you turn on iCloud, in your own private iCloud — not on our servers.
Flybound (“Flybound,” “we,” “us”) is a pre-flight planning aid for general-aviation pilots. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it's handled. It is not legal advice, and Flybound itself is a planning aid that never replaces an official weather briefing (FAR 91.103).
Information you enter
You can set up aircraft profiles, personal minimums, a home airport, planning preferences, and a “wheels-down” log of fields you've visited. This information is stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud on your device, it syncs across your own devices through Apple iCloud and lives in your private iCloud account — Flybound does not receive or store it on any server we operate.
Information requested over the network
To score the map, the app fetches aviation weather — METARs, TAFs, and winds aloft — from NOAA's Aviation Weather Center, and uses airport, runway, and frequency data from the FAA's NASR dataset. These requests reference the airports or region you're viewing. They do not include your name or an account identifier, because there is no account.
Location
Flybound works from the home airport you choose and does not require your device location. If you choose to grant location access, it is used on your device to orient the map and is not collected or stored by us.
Alerts
If you turn on scout alerts, the app schedules local notifications on your device for the days you choose. You can turn these off at any time in the app or in iOS Settings.
Analytics and advertising
Flybound does not include third-party advertising networks or analytics trackers, and does not sell or share your personal information. As with any app distributed through the App Store, Apple may provide us aggregate, anonymized crash and usage statistics; that data is governed by Apple's privacy policy and is not tied to your identity.
Children
Flybound is intended for pilots and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Keeping and deleting your data
Because your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud, you control it. Deleting the app removes its on-device data; to remove synced data, delete Flybound's data from iCloud in iOS Settings. The in-app weather cache can be cleared at any time from Settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we'll revise the “Effective” date above. Material changes will be reflected here at flybound.app/privacy.html.
